Strumble Diary 27/04/2025

Another lovely day at Strumble today. Mostly blue sky a light breeze and warmer than of late. Along with that a much bigger tide too. The outer tide race always first to get going attracted the first few porpoise but always out of range of the camera. It's a good indicator though of how many porpoise/dolphin are about and are likely to come closer later in the tide. About 15-20 all together for this session, just slightly down on the previous days but this could have been due to the strength of the tide. Those that did come in were reasonably close so did afford a chance of some close shots. No obviously marked animals today but the best images came right at the end with a surfy porp showing of his skills.

When we see Cormorants flying at a distance we always think of them as black or at least dark plumaged. If you see them close up with the sun reflecting off them though they're actually quite a colourful bird withan amazing feather pattern.

One of the Gannets gave a nice close pass.
