Strumble Diary 03/09/2020

Another fine morning at Strumble and as I arrived there were around seventy gannets just off to the west. A steady look under them showed an aweful lot of common dolphin feeding well. They steadily moved toward us and although some went way out others did come close enough for some shots. I would estimate about 100+ all together. As they moved out of sight more were sighted but were well spread out so harder to guesstimate numbers but I thought around twenty. There was a slight break after that until I spotted three rissos going west to east followed ten minutes later by another five. Sadly these were single surfacing so no images I'm afraid. It was then the turn of the porpoise which were making their way up the now full flow of the tide race. Wave after wave for over an hour and a half kept me busy but smiling. Surprise of the day believe it or "Knot" was a cheeky visit from a wader more at home on the mud flats than a concrete platform in front of the lookout, but there we go. Check out the images at the bottom of the page.
