Strumble Diary 07/02/2025

To quote the words of "Nessa" from Gavin and Stacy. " I won't lie to you". It was bloomin freezing at Strumble this morning. Whilst in Fishguard Bay there was a stiff NEaster blowing down the bay, at Strumble it was three times the force and the wind chill was around zero. Dressed like the Michelin man and with two pairs of gloves on my fingers still felt frost bitten.

Anyway, enough of my moans, lets get onto the cetaceans. I saw several porpoise, again at the start of the tide, but distant as has been the case the past few days.  A large flock of distant gannets with commons below held hopes for closer sightings. This turned out to be the case as later in the session a pod of commons came up from the west and moved through returning east to west a short time later. Sea conditions were washing machine like with wind against tide producing large standing waves and very confused seas in the tide race. They were very hard to track but I did manage to capure some at least.
