Strumble Diary 12/03/2017

Just an afternoon session today as the weather in the morning was very murky. I arrived to see the remnants of the ebb tide and saw several porps still feeding to the west of the lookout. Over the next couple of hours I watched them move slowly to the NE and I lost sight of them at that stage. Cliff, Rens and Laura arrived around 4ish and we waited for the flood rip to form. Sightings were frequent but frustratingly with a rising wind and sea state it was increasingly difficult to photograph them. As the sun died away the temperature dropped sharply and we decided to call it a day shortly after 5pm.

How Ken got these shots is a minor miracle and a testament to his skill. Laura Rens and I were trying hard but a combination of "now you see them now you don't" and really frustrating conditions defeated us all, Really frustrating but at the end of the day talent and experience won! We have not had too many notched fins recently but quite a lot of abrasions and odd markings, a bit puzzling but all grist to the mill!
