Strumble Diary 05/05/2018

With the harbour at Goodwick shrouded in mist early this morning I wasn't hopeful of a morning session on the flood tide at strumble. A few miles can make a difference though and although it was dull and grey the visibility was a lot better out there. I started the session at 08.50 just as the tide race was starting to form and on the slower tides at present I knew it wasn't going to be river like. The porps started moving in around 09.30 with several animals spotted across the race. Sightings were then low but steady up until 10.30ish after which they died away with no further activity seen after 10.45. On a good note another returning marked animal for the ID project so I guess I've earned my keep for another week and Holly will no doubt be pleased.
