A Tale of Two Days

Having been absent due to work commitments the past fortnight or so it's nice to get back into the swing of things again. It wasn't just me that was not showing much either as it seems the porps took a break too with very few sightings over the same period. So yesterday in the morning Holly and her team saw just a few porpoise on the dropping tide then I went out on the rising tide and didn't see any but I did get some common dolphin at a distance of around two miles as seen in the first images below. Move on to today then and a different story all together. I got to Strumble as the ebb was gathering pace and was soon sighting porps. They were mostly hanging in the tide before moving on around the point. All in all I'd say between fifteen and twenty with one group of three showing well. When things dropped off it was back into the bay and a trip to the breakwater with Cliff, Lee and Rachel.  We sat for quite a while seeing nothing but the few sea birds passing before us. Holly had seen porpoise out there before we arrived but even they had moved off. We were just about to leave when I spotted the tell tale fins of a couple of Bottlenose as they tracked accross the bay toward Pen Anglas. These were followed by a few more and I estimated 5-7 in total. Sadly they didn't come our way and after watching them head out into deeper water we called it a day and headed back to the Lab.
