Strumble Diary 17/02/2019

Thankfully a bright and dry day but the wind from the south still carrying that winter chill. It was also nice to see visitors back once again as the English half term gets underway. The tide race formed sooner than of late as we come off the neap tides and move toward the bigger tides. A good bit of porpoise action mainly to the north and northwest of the lookout with some close in giving a good view for images. The rough numbers were in the region of a dozen animals with the highlight being a well marked porpoise showing several times early in the session. The library of marked animals now number in the eighties and is building quite steadily.

As one of only four organisations worldwide carrying out this kind of research it's very satisfying to know we are leading the way in this field with more marked animals recorded than in the other studies. It's thanks to Holly and our volunteers who have enabled the expansion of the project that have put us in this unique position and lets hope we can sustain this going forward.
