Strumble Diary 07/09/2020 PM

Weatherwise the afternoon session was marginally better than the morning. Fran and the Monday crew were there as I arrived but left shortly after having competed their two hour survey. Distant Rissos had been sighted but too far away for images in the prevailing conditions. As the tide dropped away a steady flow of porpoise came through the tide with the highest density coming mid tide. Several full breaches were observed in the bigger swells but a lot of just splash and dash too as they chased their prey. Numbers estimate 40+.   Notable birds for the day were AM. 20 Bar Tailed Godwit.  PM. 28 Bar Tailed Godwit. Several seals close in as well.
