Strumble Diary 06/12/2021

Great to be out again. I arrived some two hours into the dropping tide and set up shop outside the lookout. In the first ten minutes I had spotted two Risso's Dolphin each traveling in the opposite direction about a minute appart. Several minutes later a single porpoise way out in the building tide race and then nothing for some thirty minutes or so. The Monday crew arrived and settled in and soon we were seeing several porpoise moving up the tide flow to feed. Over the period of action I would estimate around 15 or so animals one of which was a marked returner for our ID project. Conditions in general were poor with large swells and subdued light making it difficult at times to spot and follow the porpoise.
