A short afternoon session 3pm/5pm on the rising tide produced a steady dribble of porpoises along the overfalls of the tide race. A gentle easterly breeze took the heat out of the sunshine. All in all, it was a pleasant session with a couple of reasonable record images produced including a mother and calf.

Strumble Diary 24/03/2022 Risso's off the Point (2)
As per yesterday the weather today was awesome. Light breeze, sunny and at last some spring warmth. The Risso's were also present for the second day running and instead of six there were nine, so either I missed three on the previous sightings or others had joined them which I feel was the case. They were moving very slowly for a change with one of them getting quite active as they passed close by. I watched as they made their way east as far as Carreg Wastad Head where they stopped and milled around for thirty minutes or so before drifting back and outward with the tide. Only three distant porpoise today and sadly no pics but as yesterday the Risso's more than made up for it.

Strumble Diary 23/03/2022 Risso's off the Point
At last a much warmer day which encouraged a five hour session above the point today. Porpoise were again few and distant but I was very happy to capture a pair, possibly a mother (Marked Fin) and juvenile calf as they passed by close in. The low number of porpoise was more than made up for with the appearance of the group of Risso's I had captured last week that have been around since a week ago yesterday 15th March. The sighting of the 15th report to me came from Steve Jones (St Davids) who had seen them off St David's Head via my twitter feed. Thanks Steve. All reports are very welcome and can be made via, Facebook, Twitter- @SeaTrustWales, E-mail- info@seatrust.org.uk. Phone to Ocean Lab - 01348 874737 Or if you're out and about and see one of the team please feel free to pass on any sightings.

Strumble Diary 22/03/2022 Tales from the Point
A glorious day at Strumble today only slightly spoiled by The nagging easterly wind. As I approached I could see Commons ahead so I stopped well short of the car park in an attempt to get a shot before they rounded the point. Too Slow!! By the time I got the kit out they were under and gone.
I made my way to the headland above the point and settled in for my morning session. Off to the NW but very distant some more Commons this time 40+ to add to the dozen or so seen earlier. They tracked east and I last saw them again very distant heading toward Cemaes Hd. By this time one or two porpoise were starting to show further out east towards Fishguard Bay and at this time I was joined by Holly and Rubi who had come out for the Tuesday survey. The porpoise came back with the dropping tide and before long were feeding in front of us. Several animals over a two hour period kept us busy with the oft seen (lately anyway) heavily marked porpoise appearing in many of the photos. I think it likes Strumble :-). As the tide flow eased so did the action and we left for home happy at having had an excellent session.
