Everything fell into place nicely today. Weather was good, tide was right and the light for a change was excellent. All I needed was the porpoise to play ball and I'd be a happy man.
I arrived two hours into the dropping tide and set up my gear. As I scanned around I spotted a pod of Common Dolphin a mile or so out to the NE. They were feeding well with thirty or so Gannets in attendance. Thirty minutes or so later they were on the move heading West just as two of our interns arrived for their Friday survey. We tracked them as they passed by, turned, then headed SW. The tide race was forming nicely and porpoise started to move up the tide race toward Mackrel Point. Two at first then others until there were five foraging off the point. They slipped back with the tide after a while and gave some good photo ops in front of the lookout. Hard to say how many porps throughout the session but a good guess would be 8-10.

Appologies for first 15 or so seconds of video. Looks like the upload to YT didn't do it any favours.
