Yesterday whilst working in the Ocean Lab, I looked out of the window and saw a pod of Dolphins not far away in the harbour! The next thing there was a mass exodus including the kitchen staff all of who got a great view through bins and a telescope!
Today Fran's porpoise photo ID survey team went out to Strumble, despite wind and rain! Only one porpoise was seen but common dolphins were present for most of the survey. It was difficult to estimate numbers as they were very mobile so maybe several different pods or just the one with a minimum estimate of c12-15 individuals.
