Today I joined the Thursday survey group on what was a calm and sunny morning. The tide was one of the weakest this month and to be honest I wasn't expecting much action as there is hardly any tide race produced on such small tides. Off to the west though I spotted several porpoise feeding and as the survey progressed they move closer to our location. A few groups (3-5) plus several individuals kept us busy for the entire survey and mid watch I took a break to pass my knowledge of all things porpoise and Strumble waters to a couple from Bristol who were very keen to find out what we were up to. I think the volunteers would have stayed a lot longer as when we left the porpoise were still busy feeding in what little tidal run was there.
A couple of marked animals today(highlighted below) one of which I think is one named "Moon" which if correct is a returning sighting.
