Quite sad that my previous sighting of what I thought was "Denty" proved not to be so, but it sure was similar. But onward we go as there's many more to be identified I'm sure. I do hope Denty is still alive and living it's best life out there somewhere though.
Almost perfect conditions this morning at Strumble as myself, Beth and Rhodri put three pairs of eyes over the water. The sun was shining but the wind from the East was a little chilly. My first sighting was a distant porpoise off to the NE followed a little later by four more in the same area but only passing through too far for images sadly. Way out NW toward the horizon fifty or so wheeling Gannets suggested there were commons feeding out there while closer in we started seeing the tell tale signs of feeding commons. They moved slowly towards us west to east with a good few mother/calf combinations in the pod. About thirty or so in that pod and a little later a small pod of very active commons racing up through the tide race. Things calmed down after that with just a few distant porpoise further up the tide race and one closer in which I managed to capture in camera which was marked with a nick out of the dorsal fin. A returner I think.
