Strumble Diary 25/04/2025

Overcast with quite a stiff SE wind when I arrived at Strumble this morning. I set up the camera and settled in to my fave spot down on the ledge. It gets me a bit closer to the porpoise and a lower shooting angle allows me to capture a bit more of the flanks when they surface. As happened yesterday the first sighting was of a pod of commons distant out to the north the spray from their dash and splash giving away their position. They soon move off to the west and thankfully unlike yesterday no more commons came in leaving the whole area free for the porpoise, and boy did they make the most of it.

As the tide race was stirring so the porpoise started coming in from the NW in three's, five's, and more. At a guess I'd say at least thirty and probably more. From the lighthouse area accross to Pen Caer point there were porpoise visible although almost all beyond the tide race. A two course breakfast of sandwiches and Porp soup. I enjoyed the former but the porp soup was even better.

One marked porp today with a tag off the back of it's fin which I've seen several times before.
