The tide was just right for the breakwater and Strumble Hd this morning and I was happy to see several Bottlenose off the breakwater as I arrived. All the usual animals that have been with us now for several weeks. They were mostly milling around but with the odd break for a little socializing and play and at one time dashing around madly after fish. I spent nearly two hours with them before changing location to Strumble Hd in search of porpoise and anything else that may pass by.
As I arrived at Strumble the tide race was just forming off the point and it seemed very quiet there. Ten minutes in and I spotted my first Porpoise going East to West with the tide. Sightings were slow and although I saw seven in total it was one breath and gone, which is so frustrating, so no images I'm afraid. The day was saved so to speak by a very active pod of Commons as they sped by going with the tide, much the same as the pod I had a few days ago. On the bird front it was mostly very quiet except for a flock of around fifteen or so Whimbrel going West.
