Strumble Diary 30/05/2021 (Strumble delivers)

A beautiful day and real T shirt weather for a change. A dropping afternoon tide with almost flat calm conditions. The session started well with several porpoise sighted off to the NW as the tide developed. A few small groups moved in to feed and afforded me some good shooting opportunities. Denty our most re-sighted porpoise also put in a showing today so a bonus for the Fin ID project. An hour or so into the session as I was shooting a group of four porpoise moving in from the East over Mackerel point I heard an enormous series of splashes off to my left. I swung around to see a Risso's dolphin making several breaches about a quater mile beyond the lighthouse. it looked to be part of a group of three to four animals that were heading SW towards St Davids Head. As a bonus at the end of the session we spotted a small group of Common Dolphins going with the tide toward the same direction. Overall a great session with three different cetaceans in a few hours. Roll on summer!!
