Bird's Rock, New Quay

Nice, bright day with a 2/3 Sea State. Saw a solitary porpoise, minutes after setting up. After half an hour or so, saw a second fin, then a third; eventually there were five porpoises, slowly milling around presumably feeding. No Bottlenose again and it is a few months since I last saw them out towards Cei Bach.

One other thing that struck me was that in the course of the afternoon, I only saw about a dozen auks and heard none. Of course they could all be sitting there on the ledges, out of sight from the look-out, but ten days ago, there were several thousand of them on the water being very noisy.
