Big Swells Small Porps

A frustrating few hours spent at Strumble today. Well at first that was. A very strong tide running and with the wind against it the swells were huge topped off with very choppy waves. For the first two hours the only sightings were very fleeting glimpses as the porps came up took a single breath and dived again. My sanity was saved by the bird life which at least due to the strong wind was closer to the coast than normal. A solitary Giant Skua passed within a few hundred feet with Gannets, Auks, Divers on the water and assorted gulls including a few Mediterraneans for good measure. Things did improve though and as the porps ended their feeding some of them came closer into the not so rough water before heading west on the ebb tide.
