Strumble Diary 17/11/2018

A slightly belated entry as it was a busy time after I returned from Strumble yesterday. The morning cloud was slow to clear and the wind was generally S Easterly but for a time increased and went Easterly giving little or no shelter within the lookout. The session started at 09.15 and the first two hours were very quiet with only one sighting of a group of four porps at distance moving to the NE. Around lunch time as the tide race was forming on the flood tide what I thought was a single Risso came in from the West but on processing the images it turns out there were two. The porpoise as in the previous few days were scarce but several animals did come in to the race to forage but it was very difficult to get them on camera as they were barely surfacing and moving very quickly.
When that short period of action had finished and the porps moved off a group of 4-5 Rissos came across from east to west fairly close in so a good opportunity for some good pics. As they moved through the race and away to the NW it was time to call it a day and so I finished the session at around 14.45.
