Strumble Diary 05/04/2019

A chilling SE wind greeted me at Strumble this morning with the remnants of the flood tide disturbances still showing off the lookout. There were still some porpoise out there feeding so I set up and got what I could before the ebb flow started. As the ebb gathered pace the porpoise and the 50 or so Gannets now in attendance got pushed further and further out to the NW. Eventually the sightings dropped away and as has been evident for most of the winter they seem to favour the rising tide over the dropping tide as for the rest of the session the only animals visible were a couple of grey seals feeding along the shoreline. On a positive note and despite the shooting distance I did catch a severely marked porpoise which I have captured before although a while ago. Another for the ID project and proof yet again as to the importance of Strumble Hd to the overall porpoise population.
