Strumble Diary 10/10/2019 (WATCH OUT THERE'S A THIEF ABOUT)

The tides are a bit awkward at the moment with the best time of the tide falling late in the afternoon. This time of year as the daylight shortens and if there's overcast conditions the light fades just as the action starts. This was the case yesterday (I'm writing this on the 11th) when with the light way down on what I consider good enough for photos the porpoise started moving in with several passing through over half an hour or so. Ah well you can't win them all as they say. Earlier though there was a pleasant distraction as a Great Skua (Bonxie) AKA the robber of the seas was doing his best to rob food from gulls which had been following a crab fishing boat. He was moving from gull to gull as they were greedily swallowing their bounty as fast as they could. Not cetaceans I know but in my opinion it's worth showing some of the other action we see daily at Strumble.

Moving in.

He fancies that.

No chance.

Walk away.

Show of strength.

Wing walker.

The fight back.
