Strumble Diary,,, two bites at the cherry!

I arrived at 0930. Sea muddled and messy, light flat, making things difficult spotting-wise, Hardly saw a thing for the first hour or so , Gannets hanging and looking kept my attention as the tide was topping and eventually I saw a few weird splashes, but nothing much showing which was reminiscent of what you see with Tuna,Eventually I got a half decent view of a Porpoise but they were extremely discrete, Bird-wise not much to report just 3 Sandwich Terns going the wrong way (east). Lots of post breeding gulls mainly Kittiwake's dotted about  in feeding groups that should have attracted skuas but none seen. It got busy and noisy with visitors and kids by about midday, Not a lot happening so I called it quits!

Back again this evening with Fran, at 19.15, low tide, very hazy, quite calm. Again not much moving within the first hour until the tide began to make. A steady stream of Manxies heading for the islands.and the porpoises started moving in from the west with the tide.Fran spotted some larger animals coming in from the east that although distant were obviously common Dolphins a small pod of perhaps half a dozen with at least one calf. No imasges of the animals involved but the abiding memory will be of the sunset!
