Strumble diary 16/4/21

I got there as the tide was a couple of hours after high tide and soon noticed porpoises retreating with the tide just off Mackerel Rock. with my Canon SX 60 i was a bit under-gunned compared to Ken, so was dependent on getting on some closer animals for any chance of a few record shots. I missed one mating attempt and a pale animal that may have had a calf but in switching from bins to camera lost it.                    For the best part of an hour, porpoises were moving west but mostly distant and one or two closer ones were too briefly visible for me to get on to for a shot.                                                                                Eventually as the head of the tide had passed on with overfalls developing closer in, i noticed a small pod of four or five porpoises moving towards me close-ish and against the flow.  Luckily, they kept on track and at last i waas able to get some decent record shots!
