Minke Soup!

Though primarily aimed (with considerable success) at birds there was plenty of Cetacean action on yesterday's pelagic on the Celtic Wildcat organised by Dave Astins of West Coast Birdwatching. 100's of Common Dolphins were seen on the way out to, and back from, the Celtic Deep. The best action was just 10 or 15 miles out, however, where 5 or 6 Minke Whales were seen in one area accompanied by hundreds of feeding Manx Shearwaters. A couple of the beasts surfaced close to the Wildcat so that we could hear them breathing! Click on the photo above for my photographic take on a great day out. (Sorry about all the birds!).

P.S. Huge congrats to Ken on capturing the Thresher - amazing reactions!
