Strumble Diary 10/03/2022 Part 2

Following on from the excellent session the Thursday crew had this morning I went out late afternoon on the dropping tide for a couple of hours. A weak tide with a slow tide race so little expectation. However, it developed into the most productive session so far this month for me. Several porpoise were milling around at distance as the time went on and I was hopeful that they may come closer in. Half an hour in and I spotted a single large Risso's Dolphin moving quickly east to west accross my view. Ten minutes or so later it was joined off to the west by a further two and they all made their way off further to the west.

The session continued with several waves of porpoise moving up the tide race feeding as they went, with an estimate of 12-15 animals seen in this later part of the survey. Eventually the light faded below acceptable levels so I made my way home very happy with what I had seen.
