Strumble Diary 11/03/2022

Another day of pants weather meant I wasn't considering a trip out today, but on returning from our shopping trip I could see the sky clearing in the Strumble direction. A quick check on tide times and seeing as it was favourable and the light was OK, off I went. A quiet start on a very small tide as expected then a few porpoise further out with a couple of shots in the camera just to say they were there. Nothing came in  really close but it was still lovely to be there with all that fresh sea air filling my lungs. A half hour of fruitless scanning back and forth with the binos and then off the point a very large fin. Yes! It was the same three Risso's that I'd seen yesterday. The sighting was so brief I didn't get a shot before they were under again. Patients paid off as I furiously scanned the water for any signs. Five minutes or so later they came up again this time to my left off the lighthouse and I managed several shots before they submerged again. Phew!! got them. All went quiet after that and as the light was fading I packed up and headed for home.
