Strumble diary 7/8/22 a sad porpoise event, and report from Vicky Swales...

A brief visit to Strumble yesterday 12.30 -1300 (wind light N.Westerly, viz good, high tide 14.03) two porpoise sightings of 4 individuals. A couple of visiting watchers had seen a pod of c 100 c dolphins pass to the west at about 10.30.
Earlier we attended a porpoise stranding near our Ocean Lab Base in Fishguard Harbour that was also attended by members of BDLMR. The adult Porpoise looked to be in a poor condition. Sadly it died and was presumably dying when discovered and helped by a concerned member of the public. The dead animal was collected by Mat of Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme for post mortem examination.
And today (Sunday) from Vicky...6+ common dolphins half mile off st Ann’s head at 9.21am.
