Fran and self spent a couple of early evening sessions at Strumble approx 17.50/19.00.
4th , wind W 4, big tide sunny ints. It took a while for the tide to start moving around the head, and as we scanned the sea with Manx Shearwaters streaming west, we were hoping the tide would be bringing the porpoises with it. It was a slow start but more or less on queue, we spotted the first and then more arrived seemingly feeding at the head of the tide. o occasion there were five or six visible at a time moving east on the edges of the tide race and overfalls. Sadly my battery failed so no pic's but it was time to go so we headed off home happy!
5th, next evening and the wind was slightly stronger and WSW. We started with a female porpoise accompanies by a very small calf. as the tide was making it got messy we spotted odd individuals but they had to be dug out of the chop , not easy and most sightings short and splashy. Not such a great session but the increasing flow of Manxies heading out of the bay enroute for the islands, A couple of Sandwich terns and a smart adult Med gull put some icing on the cake!
