From Greg Ellis 20/7/23...
I took a trip to Strumble Head this evening for a stroll with the new puppy, managed to see a couple of Harbour Porpoise 300 or so meters out.
Was then greeted at around 7.15pm with 3 separate pods of Common Dolphin racing by, I estimate 80 to 100 individuals again about 250 meters offshore. Wonderful.
Several short visits to Strumble over the past week by various observers produced Common Dolphins and Porpoises. There was also a report of a Minke Whale.
Sea Trust volunteers recorded several porpoises on their Photo Id watches although most sightings were brief and frustrating!
Padraig Rees of Falcon boats spotted and filmed a juvenile Basking shark off St Davids Head on Monday as well as Bottlenose Dolphin in Fishguard Bay and Porpoises of Strumble from his RHIB trips out of Fishguard.
