Risso's return! Nadia's Photo ID score three of the Pembrokeshire big five!

The Risso's return!🙌
After a few reported sightings over the last two weeks, our team were ecstatic to spot Risso's dolphins in the last few minutes of today's Strumble Head survey!🐬
We are used to seeing the Risso's between September and January, so it's an even better surprise for us!🌊

📸Nadia, Sea Trust

Our Risso's have been unusually scarce with no Strumble sightings since mid November.. Usually we see them regularly from mid September into the New Year. They usually pop up in most months but less regularly.
Maybe with the amount of Common Dolphins we are seeing year round these days the Risso's are being outcompeted. Either way, it's good to see them back!
Nadia's group also connected with porpoises and Common dolphin during the survey. Over the past couple of weeks all the big five , Porpoise, Common, Risso's, and Bottlenose Dolphins as well as Minke Whale have been recorded between Strumble and Fishguard!
