Out early today as it seems I've been missing the Risso's dolphins in the past few days. I arrived at 07.20 with birder Luke already into his session. No reports of fins as yet so I was hopeful. Early in the rising tide three poroise sighted distantly followed by twenty or so commons also distant at 08.00. these hung around for quite a while and at 09.10approx were joined by another pod moving in from the west. It seemed at one stage as if they were everywhere with some closer in some to the NE and some to the NW and some directly out from the lookout. Later in the tide approx 10 porpoise were foraging the length of the tide race and were around for 30 minutes or so and as if someone had flicked a swithch they were gone. Still no contact with Rissos sadly.
