It was a stunning morning at Strumble today. Clear blue sky flat calm and warm.I was later going out than of late and arrived nearly two hours into the dropping tide. despite this being close to slack water with little or no movement in the water there were quite a few commons around and could be seen out to good distances. I watched them in the company of some visitors who had stopped by and we enjoyed the spectacle for a good two hours.
Cliff and fran arrived just a few minutes after I had sighted a few Rissos dolphin moving west to east about a quarter mile out. As we scanned around we sighted another five or so well off to the NE. Shortly after that another larger group to the north heading SW and coming closer. Now we were really excited. The biggest number of rissos so far this year and on such a lovely day. It was short lived excitement though as a bank of sea mist rolled in over our distant rissos and right up to the coast leaving us unable to see the water below us let alone anything more distant. We gave it some 40 minutes and it never reallyt looked like clearing so we called it a day and made our way home.
