Strumble diary 16/10/2023

I think winter is on the horizon. Four degrees and a stiff SE wind greeted me when I arrived at the lookout this morning. With it being the top of the tide going into slack water I was hopeful of a Rissos sighting as that's when they've tended to show recently. Not to be however and as the tide started to ebb a pod of 30 or so Commons came in from the NW and started feeding a mile or so out. After thirty minutes or so they moved off westand out of sight. A few distant porpoise showed and things slackened off untill the tide race got going.

Joined now by Cliff B we soon started spotting porpoise making their way up the tide race some speedily chasing fish and others moving more slowly. this lasted nearly an hour or so and as the tide bottomed out the porpoise moved back with the tide to west of the lighthouse. Thrilled but chilled it was time to make our way back home to some much needed warmth.
