"Humpy" Diary...Monday 22/1/24.

First spotted by Holly on Friday (see previous posts), despite foul weather and almost hurricane winds, we have managed to keep track of the Humpback Whale with sightings from reliable observers, around Fishguard Bay/Harbour.This morning another reliable observer Brennig Hughes has reported and photographed it off Pen Anglas and has moved past the breakwater into the harbour.

The perception of several observers is that the animal is not in good shape. certainly it seems to have a lot of scarring. The fact that upwards of 100 common dolphins have been pretty much resident over the past week or so would indicate the availability of plenty of fish. The movements of the whale seems to indicate it is foraging/feeding. The fact it was observed breaching might indicate its not in too bad shape, lets hope it feeds well and is restored to good health! only time will tell but wherever it goes it should now be easily identifiable!
