Strumble Diary 13/05/2025

Another beautiful day with a light NE'ly breeze and a calm sea with just a few ripples over the surface. We arrived just after 10.20 and dropped down to the ledge and set up for the session. As the outer tide race formed (dropping tide) we spotted several Porpoise moving in. The numbers steadily built up over the next hour and by the time the inner tide race formed there were up to 30+ porpoise over a large area about a quarter mile or so off the rocks. A good number of these eventually came closer in so as you can imagine my shutter finger was in almost constant use. It was a wonderful session and I was delighted to show my friend Barry what Strumble can deliver at it's best. The highlight for me was the sighting of a partially pigmented or leucistic porpoise. The lack of pigment on the face makes it (for me at least) the prettiest porp I've seen to date, if porps can be pretty.  So all in all a very busy and productive session and it's so encouraging to see these high numbers of Porpoise using Strumble. Long may it continue.

Breakwater Bottlenose in previous post today also.

A pair of Chough and this Barrel Jellyfish put in an appearance too.
