Strumble Diary 05-09-2025

We're just coming off the small tides now and I was hoping for a bit more action than of late with a swifter moving tide race. I was there well before the tide race was due to form and had sightings of distant Common Dolphin. They soon moved on and things were quiet then until the outer tide race picked up. I spotted several distant Porpoise moving up the tide and managed to get some shots before they headed off toward Pen Anglas. There was just the odd sighting after that with a few more Commons off to the NW showing sporadically.

Below the lookout a small shoal of bait fish attracted thirty or so gulls which was a free for all with wings and beaks thrashing around with abandon. Every Gull for itself so to speak. Once the Black Backs arrived it was a complete mele as they bullied their way to the bait fish. The result was a disaster for one poor bird that met it's demise in the carnage. A pleasant sight was that of a Peregrine flyby right in front of the lookout  which I managed to get a few shots of.
