In near gale force conditions the wind against tide was whipping up the swells out in the tide race. When I arrived, Luke (birder) said there were Rissos about so I was hopeful. I set up and settled in waiting to see what turned up. After ten minutes or so of continual scanning back and forth along the tide race four large fins appeared, Rissos! Not showing very well but at least they were there. One or two shallow breaches (not fully out of the water) from one of them was the height of the action with the rest being mostly just fins on the surface. A few Porpoise also showed up, about six in all so not a good session for seeing them either.
Not a common sight in these parts was a Black Tern on the ground at the flagpoles end of the beach in Goodwick. Also a seldom seen Yellow Legged Gull.
