Strumble Diary Friday 29th May

Sometimes the porpoises are so distant they are almost impossible to see. It is only the feeding birds that give away their presence The following pic's aren't going to win any prizes but they do demonstrate how far digital cameras have come in the past few years.
Our Canon SX 50  bridge camera has a 50 x optical zoom and up to 200 x digital zoom
You would not usually want to use a digital zoom at that magnification but it was the only way of getting a record shot to support our campaign to protect our Strumble Porpoises.

It was low tide and the porp's had retreated west, way beyond the lighthouse.

Through the binoculars I could make out the feeding  birds this is the camera @50 x optical

And this is 200  x digital no prize winner but solid evidence as a record shot!
