Strumble Diary 22/02/2020

An early start today as typically on this strength of ebb tide the action happens at the start of the tide race some four hours before low water and can be over in as little as 30 minutes. So true to form I spotted the first porp at that time out to the north about half a mile. There were some big swells running as wind against the increasing tide built them up to around 15-20ft (see first image) and increasing even more as they approached the Strumble Bank off to the NE. Over the next 45 minutes or so I spotted several animals coming in to feed, but it wasn't long before the tide race was surging through and pushing them back to the west of the lighthouse. A brief but fruitful session then but worth the effort to get out there early.
