After an overcast start the skys cleared to give us a stunning day at Strumble Head today. While the Monday survey team took up their position at the lookout I made my way over to my now favourite location at the point. A bit hazy at the start but it soon cleared and in the calm conditions I was soon spotting Porpoise out in the building tide race to the NW. A couple came close in but most were well off beyond camera range. A disturbance off to my right (NE) showed the telltale taller sharp fin of some Common Dolphin. Seven in all heading to the NW and thankfully within camera range, images 6-12 below. Boat traffic picked up later in the session so the porpoise moved off the point and down with the tide to the west. I would estimate 15 or so porpoise sighted for the three hour session so I was pleased with the numbers.
