A very mixed bag of weather and viz conditions today. On the dropping tide several porpoise came in to feed in the tide race but were difficult to see in the poor light conditions. Local birders Adrian Rogers and George Mee had sighted a small number of commons before my arrival with no further sightings during my survey. The images of commons below are from four days ago and show one very thin looking individual which could evidence the lack of food around at present or just a sickly animal. There's the sad sight also of what looks like a gull that has succumbed to the H5N1 Avian Influenza which is ravaging the sea bird population at present. A sight that's becoming more frequent sadly. The porpoise are from this morning's session.
