Strumble Diary 2/9/22.

So, the sea looked nice and calm the tide was two hours past high, so although a bit overcast we decided to have a look at Strumble..

We had only been there a couple of minutes when Fran spotted some Risso's, about four or five muddling around but quite distant. As is the way of Risso's we took our eye off them for a few seconds to search for Porpoises that were beginning to show up on the tide and they were gone.
However, the porpoises were beginning to show well on the ebb and unusually close. Even withe my canon bridge camera I managed to get some half decent record shots.
The Risso's put in another brief appearance but did a disappearing act again. Sadly time was tight and we had to leave with Porpoises showing well from the lighthouse to Mackerel Rock =180 degrees! probably at least 50 individuals having passed through!
