Social Volunteers and Social Risso's

A few times a year Holly arranges a volunteer social so that the different groups of volunteers that do different days can meet up and get to know each other. Today was one such day and we assembled at the lookout for a 11am to 1pm meet up. The Sunday crew under the watchful eye of Mair were doing a survey while all other eyes were helping out between scoffing Sausage rolls, cakes and sweets provided by Fran & Holly. The chat was good but the sightings were slow until Carrie spotted a group of Risso's approaching from the east. They were moving quite quickly and were soon passing by about a half mile out. The young ones were getting lively and gave a good show which was enjoyed by all especially Marilyn who would normally be manning the desk at the Ocean Lab. What a great sighting for her on her first visit to the lookout. That as good as brought the social to a close and we all made our way home happy with what we'd seen.
