Sunny Saturday at Strumble!

A beautiful late spring morning a whisper of a NE breeze arrived at Strumble at 0930 around three hours past high tide. The race was beginning to run fast on the ebb and the remains of a chop from yesterdays stiff northerly, made for a nix of waves and ripples that was not easy to spot anything.

A bit of an odd wave and then just a brief sighting of a couple of fins alerted me to a small pod of what looked like common dolphins. This was confirmed when I got a better view but they were moving fast in the race and difficult to spot although the gannets were following them which helped me get a couple of record shots

A small RHIB appeared on the scene and began following them reasonably gently but the dolphins moved out of range and i began looking for some porpoises as they began to arrive with the as the tide moved west.
As predicted i started seeing odd glimpses as gulls and gannets betrayed their presence and again, I managed to catch a few record shots.
All in all given the circumstances it was an interesting couple of hours, good to see some commons after a bit of a hiatus and the porpoises were not exactly numerous but as the tide took everything out of reach I packed up feeling reasonably happy with my haul even if they were only record shots!
