Today was one of those days where you come home after a morning session on a high and stay that way for the rest of the day. I arrived an hour before the top of the tide in the hopes of catching any Rissos that may be around after the single sightings of recent days. I soon had a smile on my face as six to eight Rissos appeared in front of the lookout. Not all together at first, a couple here a few there and soon they were all together before spreading out to forage some 3-400mtrs off. A mother and calf pair provided some excitement as the youngster breached several times. I couldn't believe my luck as they stayed around for a good hour or so before moving off to the west on what was now the dropping tide.
Twenty minutes or so passed before the first porpoises were sighted with several charging through the tide race chasing down their prey. In the choppy water it was difficult to track them as they were feeding deep and spending little time on the surface.
