Strumble Diary 16/09/2024

A lovely sunny morning at Strumble today. An early start for the dropping tide commencing at 08.00. right away I could see commons way off to the east beyond mackerel point with the morning sunlight reflecting off their shiny bodies. As time went by more and more sightings of commons seemingly in all directions with an estimated 60+ for the session. The largest group were around 30+ which moved east to west stopping briefly to feed on a shoal I guess before moving out to the NW. Several porpoise were observed at the far side of the tide race and off Mackerel point before the tide got too strong and pushed them back west. A busy session then with the added bonus of a close fly by of a juvenile Sparrow Hawk right in front of the lookout.
